Dinner at Frankie’s
By Diane Mahoney
On Saturday night, October 22, before attending the Eugene O’Neill play Seascape at the Berkshire Theater Group, Gary and I went to dinner to Frankie’s Italian restaurant in Lenox, Massachusetts. Foolishly thinking we would not need a reservation we were very lucky to get a table – provided we were done by 6:30 PM.
I would highly recommend this spot if you are in the area. Chicken Alla Frankie’s is the best: Chicken sautéed with roasted red peppers and artichoke hearts in a garlic white wine sauce served with sautéed spinach and soft baked polenta! Gary, a vegetarian, had fried polenta and grilled artichokes: Long-stem artichokes grilled and topped with sliced almonds, arugula & citrus vinaigrette. His verdict? “Best Italian vegetarian meal ever!”
While waiting for our dinner, we began chatting with a couple nearby. They, too, were vacationing in the area, from Providence, Rhode Island. We learned that Edna, a chemist, and Ron, a chemical engineer, had met at work 6 years ago. We had a delightful dinner conversation with them and because we had such a good time, we exchanged emails and agreed to meet again!
After the play, Gary and I stopped in the tavern at the Red Lion Inn where I playfully amused myself behind a beaded curtain while waiting for my iced tea drink.
