Hi, from Diane Mahoney and Gary Davis.
Our mission at Find Fabulous Friends is to do all we can to help people connect with one another in fulfilling and joyous ways, through learning to talk to strangers, and making friends.
Diane and Gary have established Find Fabulous Friends as a resource for all, and a safe and supportive space for members, to learn to talk to strangers – something that dramatically improves psychological and physical health – and to connect to make friends through mutually interesting activities.
Diane Mahoney (BA, MEd, CAGS, PhD) is a psychologist with a masters degree in counseling, a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in psychology, and a doctorate in clinical psychology.
Diane has many years of experience in psychological counseling, having practiced in the field of psychotherapy for over several decades. She founded Halcyon Psychological Services, Inc., which grew into a highly successful, multi-faceted psychological and training service.
In addition to traditional psychotherapy, Halcyon also provided consultation services to nursing facilities, chemical dependency assessments, and a drug diversion program for courts, employee assistance programs, training for local companies, and seminars on various topics.
Gary Davis (BSc (Hons), PhD) is a mathematician and mathematics educator. Born and raised in Melbourne Australia, he has worked in universities in Australia, England, and the United States.
He initiated the Data Science program at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and he brings to Find Fabulous Friends research and data analytical skills.
Gary is well-versed in research findings of the enormous health benefits of talking to strangers, and the different techniques that work to help people talk to strangers – something he himself, under Diane’s expert encouragement, practices regularly.
